HAND Salon is opening in Parkhurst tonight. Shanon, the owner, is a good friend and fabulous woman - I have no doubt that this will be a welcomed addition to the neighborhood! Good luck Shanon!

I want Julia Sarr-Jamois's style. Full stop.

Looks can be deceiving

In New York you walk past many buildings that look like this:

But you seldom think that the inside looks like this - swimming pool and all (although I am hearting the greenhouse and the library):

Gulp only wisdom

Some wise words (and also just some taglines) from the billboards of New York:

Coco & Igor

Monday, June 27, 2011

I watched this movie about the lives of Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky last night. It is a visual feast of gorgeous clothes and beautiful interiors. It almost made me want to eliminate all colour from my wardrobe and home.

Guest Post: Happy Weekend

Friday, June 24, 2011

The Talks, a weekly online magazine with nothing but interviews. I am obsessed. Over the past decade founders Johannes Bonke and Sven Schumann have met people from all over the world, people of substance, intrigue and culture, and on their travels they interview artists, designers, actors, producers, musicians and sports stars. They profile creative minds and their site filled with conversations with the people I just loving reading about.  I would say that the site is a perfect time waster, but reading this, is not waste!

Other things that I am loving this freezing Friday:

This happy kitchen.

OMG I heart this dress.

All I want to do is cook, bake and celebrate

I kinda want an old victorian wardrobe

Its things like the Versace H&M collaboration that makes me want to land back in the land of London.

Happy Weekend.

Breathe

In light of my time post below, this video, via here, seems appropriate. Enjoy the ride.

Just now

This week has flown by. Funny how some weeks do that. Some love to drag their sorry little feet. But on the whole, 2011 is in a sprint. We are past the half way mark and even past the mid winter mark.

This infographic (yes, I find infographics* endlessly fascinating and visually appealing) puts the idea of "now" into perceptive (the South African version of this would have to indicate "just now" as some time in the near future but that is another thought altogether).

Guest Post: Things I am Loving

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Its a hump day: YAY, so here are a few things that I am loving today.

Kate Foley (of Opening Ceremony)'s apartment. I love how it is a realistic space, how you can see what she collects, that it is not such some interior designer's exhibition. I especially love her dining room (how fantastic is that colour!?) and chalk board wall.

I also love these pictures. I wish we had cooler offices in which things like this would hang. They were on exibit at the Museum of Craft and Folk art as part of the E is for Everyone: Celebrating Sister Coritia. I think they cool.

I also adore (!) these two Little White Dresses from the Lanvin Resort 2012 collection. sigh sigh sigh. (If I were getting married I would be tempted)

And I know it is also fashion related but I love love love this magazine cover: the stripes: OH MY!
(Its Harpers Bazaar UK July 2011 by the way)

Finally, how amazing are these chairs! I heart everything about this, the shape, the colour (and the room they in).

Opium Poppies

I came across this tumblr via Miss Moss. I am in the kind of mood where I could browse through these dreamy, surreal, feminine images all day.
